Too Busy to Exercise? Try These Quick Fitness Tricks!
Get Fit While Watching TV! Your can walk around, stretch, sit ups, crunches, walk in place, jog in place, just move around, while watching television or video. You don't really need to sit in a recliner or on the sofa to keep up with Dancing With the Stars! Let them motivate you to get up, get moving, get fit!
Wake Up and Move! When you first wake up, before you get out of bed eve, do some stretches or tummy crunches. Mattress springs are natural resisters. Use them to cushion and spring back when you do those in the bed situps.
Mall Walk! Sure, everyone wants to laugh at the retirees and their powerwalking at the mall, but they have the right idea. Lots of space to move through, often protected from the elements. Take the stairs instead of the elevators. Shop even. Try on some smaller sizes.
Walk the Lot! Hitting the grocery store? Park at the far end of the parking lot and walk to the store. Great exercise and maybe you will think twice about those twinkies and ice cream. Just be careful, do not try this at night.
Macarena While You Vacuum! Doing household chores? Step it up a bit, turn on the radio and get moving. Just vacuuming or sweeping the floor can be awesome aerobic exercise.
Workout with the Family! Spending time with the family is a great opportunity to get them moving too. Couch potatoes run in families, and what could be better than to have you spouse or kids see you work it out. Take a walk together in the evening and talk about everyone’s day, instead of sitting around after dinner, scarfing up dessert.
Work it at Work! You spend at least 8 hours at work, often more. Use breaks during the day to take a walk, run the steps between floors, go to the company gym if there is one, or do stretches at your desk. Don't say you don't have time--you do! Trade an exercise break for a run to the company cafeteria or snack machines.
Put the Pedals to the Metal! Exercise and fitness equipment stores sell units with stand alone bicycle pedals that you can put under your desk to keep those legs moving all day. You can do the movement without the actual pedals.
Become a Kitchen Dancer! Cooking dinner? Dance through the kitchen, walk in place while you stir sauce, do toe touches while you wait for the timer to buzz, step ups on the kitchen stool, and so many much can be done in this time and space. Pretend you're training for Dancing With the Stars.
Phone Tracks. People have proven consistently that you can walk, run, and do most anything while talking on the phone? Get up and walk around while you talk. Be careful to watch where you are walking. This one is better around the neighborhood or the mall. Just be conscious of others. No pushing or shoving!
Start small and work towards more. With just a minutes a day can improve your health, tremendously!
